Ryan Funai, O.D. grew up in Huntington Beach where he attended his youth schooling at Clegg/Stacey Elementary and Marina High. Dr. Funai graduated from the Southern California College of Optometry (SCCO), where he was very involved in school.
During his time at SCCO, he served as the National President of the American Optometric Student Association (AOSA) advocating for laws pertaining to patient rights and safety. He has visited Sacramento and Washington DC multiple times conversing with legislators regarding these issues.
Dr. Funai has worked in a variety of optometric workplaces including a community health center, multiple ophthalmology offices, and an Indian health hospital in Oklahoma.
He is certified by the National Board of Optometry to treat and manage ocular diseases and is passionate about giving the top quality of care to his patients.
In his free time, Dr. Funai likes to play basketball on the weekends, attend medical missions, work out at the gym, travel to his bucket list destinations, and stay connected with his close friends and family.
Dr. Funai is happy to come back and work in his hometown giving back to the community that raised him!
