PERSONALIZED VISION FOR A SCREEN-HEAVY WORLD

Neurolens® in Huntington Beach

Headaches, tired eyes, and neck or shoulder discomfort can make long hours of reading, computer work, and screen use difficult.

For some patients, these symptoms may be associated with how the eyes work together. Pacific Eye Care Doctors of Optometry offers Neurolens technology to measure certain types of eye misalignment and determine whether contoured prism lenses may be appropriate for your visual needs

WHEN YOUR EYES ARE WORKING OVERTIME

Could Eye Misalignment Be Contributing to Your Symptoms?

Your eyes need to coordinate closely to maintain clear, comfortable vision, particularly during prolonged near work. When they are not working together efficiently, the visual system may have to work harder to maintain a single image.

Symptoms associated with binocular vision problems can include:

  • Frequent headaches
  • Eye strain or tired eyes
  • Neck or shoulder discomfort
  • Visual fatigue during screen use
  • Difficulty maintaining comfortable vision while reading
  • Light sensitivity
  • Double or overlapping vision

These symptoms can have many causes. A thorough evaluation helps determine whether eye alignment may be contributing to yours.

CONTOURED PRISM, PERSONALIZED TO YOUR VISION

How Neurolens® Works

Neurolens incorporates contoured prism into prescription lenses to help address certain types of eye misalignment.

Unlike conventional prism that remains constant across the lens, Neurolens contoured prism changes through the lens to account for different visual demands at distance and near.

Your measurements help determine whether this technology is appropriate and, if so, the lens design recommended for your eyes.

MEASURE FIRST, RECOMMEND SECOND

The Neurolens Measurement Test

Pacific Eye Care uses Neurolens measurement technology to evaluate how your eyes align and work together.

The testing provides objective measurements that our optometrists consider alongside your symptoms, prescription, eye health, and examination findings.

If your results indicate that Neurolens may be appropriate, we can explain how the lenses work and what you can realistically expect from wearing them.

BUILT AROUND HOW YOU USE YOUR EYES

Who May Benefit From Neurolens?

Neurolens may be worth discussing if you experience recurring visual discomfort during activities that require sustained focus.

This may include people who spend significant time:

  • Working at a computer
  • Reading or studying
  • Using phones or tablets
  • Moving frequently between near and distance tasks

Neurolens is not appropriate for every cause of headaches, eye strain, or neck discomfort. Our optometrists can evaluate your symptoms and determine whether further binocular vision testing or another form of care is more appropriate.

FROM MEASUREMENT TO YOUR NEW LENSES

What to Expect From a Neurolens Evaluation

We begin by discussing when your symptoms occur, what visual activities tend to trigger them, and how they affect your day.

Your evaluation may include measurements of eye alignment along with your prescription and other appropriate vision testing. We then review the findings with you and discuss whether Neurolens or another approach makes sense for your needs.
