We Love Our Huntington Beach Community

Huntington Beach is a seaside city in Southern California. Huntington Beach is nicknamed Surf City, and is known as the “Surfing Capitol of the World” due to the consistent good quality of the surf. Every summer the world surfing championships are held in Huntington Beach. The city is best known for its long stretch of sandy beach, mild climate, excellent surfing, and beach culture. In fact, many events that take place in Huntington Beach are focused around the beach during the summer, including the U.S. Open of Surfing and the AVP beach volleyball tour. In the Winter there is an unusual festival called the Cruise of Lights Boat Tour, which is a parade of boats with colorful lights, and boat tours to view the homes decorated with lights. And in February the annual kite festival is held north of the pier, and the Surf City USA marathon is held with over 20,000 runners.

Huntington Beach has many things to do besides beach activities. In downtown Huntington you can visit the art center and the International Surfing Museum. Shopping is colorful, fun and eclectic. The Golden Bear nightclub, now defunct, was home to performances by many famous entertainers including BB King, Janis Joplin, Steve Martin and many others. You can stroll on the Huntington Beach Pier from Main Street right into the Pacific Ocean. At the end of the pier is a landmark, Ruby’s Diner, if you are interested in an authentic diner experience. If you are more in the mood for sushi, try Sushi on Fire, for sushi right on the beach. Every Tuesday night Surf City Nights, a community event that includes a farmer’s market, entertainment, food, and fun rides for kids, is open to the locals and visitors alike.
